Since 2008, Pen and Plow Farm has been a place to nurture creativity and the farm life that sustains us, nestled in the Hilltowns of Western Massachusetts. During its first chapter, from 2008 to 2015, the farm produced everything from heritage wheat, potatoes, and eggs to beef and pastured pork. Pen and Plow was a fixture at farmers markets in Ashfield and Shelburne Falls, and its founder, Jason Velázquez, established the Charlemont Farmers Market. After a decade in Williamstown and some…marital disharmony… Jason returned to the Hilltowns as a bachelor farmer once more. Since 2025, he has been reclaiming ground where Nature asserted her domain, bringing more pieces of the farm back into production, and finding his way into the familiar rhythms of growing, tending, and creating.
